Season 3 Episode 1 - Someone's Dream (Short Recap)
Let’s Start Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 1 Scene-wise Review
In the first episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 3, titled “Swordsmith Village Arc,” the story begins with a member of the cleaning crew finding Tanjiro’s squad after their battle with Gyutaro. This event is seen as an omen by Kagaya Ubuyashiki, who believes that the death of an Upper-Rank Demon will help them defeat Muzan, a powerful demon who has been a blemish on his family for centuries.
Meanwhile, Muzan is furious about Gyutaro’s death and summons the remaining Upper-Rank demons, including Kokushibo, Doma, and Akaza, to his lair in the Infinity Castle. It is the first time in a century that they have all gathered, and their bickering worries Hantengu.
The scene features Akaza (#3), Gyokko (#5), Hantengu (#4), Doma (#2), and Kokushibo (#1), as well as Biwa Woman Nakime, who is the mistress of Muzan’s palace. It’s a breathtaking moment that shows why Demon Slayer is one of the most visually striking anime shows around.
Muzan scolds the demons for failing to find Ubuyashiki and the Blue Spider Lily, expressing his dislike for change and how it leads to decay. Gyokko offers to share some helpful information, but Muzan demands that he first confirm its accuracy and then promptly kills him. Muzan instructs Hantengu to accompany Gyokko to verify the information and departs.
Doma tries to join the mission, but Akaza fights him for disobeying Muzan. Kokushibo intervenes, cutting off Akaza’s arm and chastising him for constantly fighting with other demons. Kokushibo advises Akaza that if he wants the upper hand, he should rank higher. Doma teases Akaza, despite being younger, being one rank higher.
Akaza vows to Kokushibo that one day he will defeat him and become the top demon, to which Kokushibo wishes him luck. The group departs, leaving Doma behind, who sighs and is escorted home by the Biwa demon.
In the first half of Demon Slayer season 3 episode 1, the demons take the spotlight, highlighting their power and setting up the season’s challenges. This establishes the stakes for Tanjiro and emphasizes the difficulty of his mission.
Muzan Kibutsuji and the other Upper-Rank Demons are featured prominently in the episode’s first act, showing their greater presence and heightened danger this season. The monsters are shown to be more unstable, unpredictable, and dangerous than ever before, creating an intense and thrilling tone for the upcoming adventure.
The episode also delves deeper into Muzan’s character, revealing his alchemy skills and his pursuit of perfecting his destructive abilities, intensifying the fear and apprehension felt by both the viewers and the Demon Slayer corps.

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 1 – Final Verdict
Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 1 - Conclusion
We also got to know more about the Kakushis and the Butterfly Estate nurses, and they were pretty funny. Everyone seems chaotic and wild, from Genya to Mitsuri.
We hope to see more of the Love Hashira in the next episodes, as the demons may be heading to the swordsmith village. It would also be exciting if Nezuko went berserk in her full demon form again to take down the two Upper-Rank demons.
